This appetizer is especially for lovers of sweet and salty. Fruit with brie cheese is, in fact, one of my favorite combinations. Here, I will show you how to seamlessly combine brie and pears. These nice and ripe pears are sweet and have a unique sweet taste. When combined with creamy brie and crispy puff pastry that melts in your mouth, you get an amazing taste. And the best is that you get all this together in one bite.

An incredible quiche, with a slightly crispy crust and full of aromas. The pear gives sweetness as well as light crunchiness, which combined with the taste of blue cheese is amazing.

Brie and Pears Puff Pastry

Ingredients

  • 225 g puff pastry
  • pear
  • 60 g brie
  • fresh thyme
  • honey
  • egg yolk
  • 1 tsp milk
  • sliced almonds

Instructions

  • Firstly, thaw the puff pastry at room temperature. Don’t let it get too warm, or it will be too floppy and sticky and will be hard to work with.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • I cut the puff pastry into 4 rectangles because I wanted  4 individual appetizers.
  • My sheet measures 30 cm x 22 cm. Each piece measures 15 cm by 11 cm.
  • Place the four pieces onto your prepared baking sheet. To create a picture frame effect, cut around the perimeter of the sheet with a sharp knife about 1 cm from the outside edge, but do not cut all the way through. Pierce the inner part of the pastry with a fork just like you would a pie crust.
  • Cut the pear in half and remove the seeds. Then cut each half into four slices.
  • Afterwards, slice the brie cheese into four equal pieces.
  • Add 2 pear slices on each rectangle. Top with the sliced brie then sprinkle with the fresh thyme. Brush the top with honey.
  • Whisk one teaspoon of milk with one egg yolk. Brush the egg mixture over the edges of the puff pastry.
  • Then, sprinkle with the sliced almonds.
  • Bake for about 15 min.
  • Finally, drizzle with honey and serve.
