The most delicious pizza I’ve ever made. Тhin and crispy with homemade tomato sauce and pesto. It is so delicious. When you make the pizza by yourself the taste will be different because you would have made it according to your own preferences. Once you take it out of the oven you will be very content and pleased. I make the tomato sauce and pesto by myself as well. In this recipe, I’ll show you how I made the tomato sauce.

For the pesto, I will give you the link for the recipe. The dough isn’t complicated at all, however you will have to knead for about 10 min. I made 4 pizzas using this recipe. You have to start with the dough because it is the most time consuming part of the pizza. You have to leave it for 1 hour in the refrigerator and then another 2 hours at room temperature for it to rise. While the dough rises, you can make the tomato sauce.

The sauce is very fast and easy. It only takes 20 min. I made the sauce thick and I left the tomatoes in pieces, but you can always transfer it into a food processor and make it into puree. It depends on your taste.

Once the pizza is ready, the melted mozzarella on top of the tomato sauce and the basil pesto is divine. The aroma of the pizza is amazing. The freshness of the basil and the crunchiness of the pine nuts make an amazing combination. Each bite melts in your mouth and is very addicting.

Try it !

  • ¼ tsp dry oregano
  • ¼ tsp dry thyme
  • ½ tsp sugar

Mak the pizza

  • yellow semolina
  • fresh sliced mozzarella
  • 7 tsp homemade pesto

How to make it

Dough

  • You can start with dough. In a bowl, pour the warm water, add the oil and yeast. Stir well and set a side.
  • In another bowl, sift the flour and add the sugar and salt. Stir and add the liquid mixture. Start stirring with a wooden spoon and after that continue with your hands. Sprinkle flour on the counter and put the dough on it so you can knead it for about 10 minutes. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for about 1 hour.
  • After that, divide it into four and make balls. Cover each ball with plastic wrap and leave them to rest at room temperature for 2 hours. During this time make a tomato sauce.

Tomato Sauce

  • Combine olive oil, onion and garlic in a medium saucepan over medium heat until fragrant but not browned, for about 2-3 minutes. Add tomatoes, salt, black pepper, dry basil, dry oregano, dry thyme and sugar. Stir and bring to a simmer, reduce the heat to the lowest setting (bubbles should barely be breaking the surface) and let cook, stirring occasionally for about 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool.

Assembly the pizza

  • Take one ball of dough and roll it out as much as possible. Make it as thin as possible. On the parchment paper sprinkle the semolina and put the rolled crust.
  • Spread tomato sauce evenly over the crust. Top with fresh sliced mozzarella and put pesto sauce on each mozzarella piece.
  • Carefully transfer the garnished pizza crust onto a baking sheet or baking pizza steel and bake in the preheated oven at 500°F for 8 minutes.
