Everyone loves hot dogs and pizza, right? Cheese pizza is one of my favorites. Here is an easy dough like puff pastry shaped like a pocket filled with tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausages, tomatoes and peppers. These are all the ingredients needed for a pizza and a hot dog combined. It’s the perfect crossover of these two dishes.

You can make this delicious puff pastry pocket for dinner or for lunch. Also, summer is around the corner! This means it’s almost time for picnics and walks in the park with your family. And what better than a quick, easy and compact idea for these occasions than a puff pastry hot dog pocket.

In this recipe, I used 900 g of puff pastry to make 6 pockets in total.

Here is the recipe for the sauce.

Mayo Ketchup Recipe

What are the most famous condiments we use all the time at home, on pizzas, on hot dogs, on fries, etc? You guessed it right! Ketchup, mayo and mustard. Everyone loves at least one of those.

Puff Pastry Hot Dog Pockets

Ingredients

  • 900 g puff pastry
  • 12 sausages
  • 6 mozzarella slices
  • 50 g tomato sauce
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • 1 tomato
  • ¼ yellow pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 50 g cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 egg
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  • First of all, we prepare the filling. In a small ball pour the tomato sauce and add the salt and black pepper. Set it aside.
  • Core the tomato and cut it into small pieces. Cut the pepper into small pieces as well. Put them all together in another ball. Add the chopped parsley and the mayonnaise. Mix well and set aside.
  • Cut off both ends of the sausages and then cut them in half lengthwise.
  • I took the puff pastry out of the freezer one day before and put it in the fridge.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 F.
  • Roll out the puff pastry with a little flour and cut it in half lengthwise. You will now have two pieces.
  • Even out all the outer sides by cutting them with the pizza cutter.
  • Take one of the two pieces and cut it in three rectangles.
  • Pour tomato sauce on each smaller piece and spread it over the bottom half of each rectangle.
  • Put a layer of mozzarella on top of the sauce.
  • Arrange four pieces of sausage and cover them with the tomato and peppers stuffing. Spread well and cover it all with the other half of the piece. Use your fingers to pinch the edges so that they adhere well.
  • Then, with the pizza knife, level all the sides.
  • Transfer them into a tray previously lined with baking paper.
  • Brush them with one beaten egg and sprinkle them with sesame seeds.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 15-20 minutes.
